  • EasyTag is more geared towards audio files but does allow you to manually edit certain metadata of MP4 file – but NOT M4V (so rename the M4V to MP4).
  • There are some tools out there that are command line based, like AtomicParsley, but that’s not what I’d want to use for this purpose. There are quite a few tools to be found when you google it that are darn good as well like Media Center Master, etc.įinding a tool to easily add metadata using a GUI application to an MP4 under Linux has proven to be quite challenging – let alone find the data online and automatically tag video files. Note : Alternatively you could give the free Microsoft Media Player build-in tools or free Zune tools a chance. pretty cool though, there is a nice little poster of the DVD and the chapters even have titles. MetaZ will use the filename as a guess to what the title of the movie could be, which you can see in the “ Search” box. Next click the file (on the right) that you’d like to work on. Start MetaZ and drop files in the “Files to Write” areaĪdding files is easy: either press COMMAND + O to select files, or drag the file(s) to the “ Files to write” list on the right side of the MetaZ window (as illustrated above) or drop the files on the MetaZ icon in the dock. IFlicks is a great little application for all those that have a huge movie collection and aren't sure how to manage it. There's also an automatic link to the Netflix database which is supposed to download the latest 100 releases to purchase, although the RSS feed was not working when I tried it. There are also a few other notable features including the ability to search on Amazon and download film info so you don't have to enter it manually. Just press a button at the bottom of the iFlicks interface and suddenly your clips and movies are browsable as thumbnails or screenshots. The slickest feature however is the Gallery View which works similar to the album browser function in iTunes. This is not much different to organizing your file folders by size, type etc but if you have a big collection, it could be useful. Smart Collections allows you to organize your movies or clips by genre, director, actors etc. What the developers hope distinguishes iFlicks from other players are a few "smart" features that more intelligently organize your collection. When you want to access a clip, you can use the iFlicks movie player which open within a smaller Quicktime style window within the iFlicks interface.
